Happy Thanksgiving

After our grandparents' generation had passed, the tradition of having big family dinners went, too.

We weren't interested in cooking a big turkey dinner for just the two of us, so we tried alternatives. We might have Cornish game hens, or crab legs. One year we tried ostrich.

For several years we just went to nearby restaurants, but after a worse than mediocre experience a couple of years ago, we returned to enjoying a meal at home. Last year we realized we could go to a restaurant on Friday and still get a traditional turkey dinner, but without the crowds and without paying inflated holiday prices.

This year we'll repeat what we did last year -- a tapas-style meal at home on the holiday, followed by a typical Thanksgiving dinner the next day.

However you choose to celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful day.

  1. Sounds like a great idea. I'm alone - just me and the dog :) - this Thanksgiving, mostly by choice, and a tapas meal sounds good... I like your tip, too. It does make you look bad.
